Early light – Anglesea River Mouth

early light Anglesea river mouth - Luke Hallam 2016

Oil on plywood (with pine support)

20cm x 20cm

Midwinter moring’s on the beach can be invigorating in this part of the world at times. With icy winds possible from any direction. It’s also a time of fantastic light, and generally one of peaceful isolation.

Looking east across the beach from the Anglesea river mouth, towards Pt Addis, there’s a shock of light on the horizon that touches the ocean and illuminates the dramatic sky. With glassy reflections picking up the sheen of wet sand along the shoreline. The air was sharp but the view well worth the exposure.

An original oil painting, 20cm x 20cm on supported plywood. Will be shipped ready to hang.
