Point Addis, Winter Swell

Oil on canvas 80cm x 80cm – The Point Addis Marine National Park is just a short distance from Anglesea and Torquay, yet the rugged sense of raw, natural isolation you feel not long after leaving the well-constructed pathways, decks and staircases belie the park’s vicinity. It’s not a stretch to imagine you’re miles away from civilisation, the geography and elevation of the sheer cliffs to the east form the basis of this ancient coastal landscape. Add to this, the intersection of Bass Strait and it makes for one of the most theatrically atmospheric locations and hidden gems on the coast. With a large winter swell hitting the coast, the west facing cliffs provided a dramatic backdrop to the lines of swell turbulently bending into the Point Addis bay.
