“Sandy Gully” is the result of an intense storm swell at Sandy Gully Beach in Aireys Inlet. I was on the beach shooting reference photos in some of the worst conditions to be outside in. Gail force wind and driving rain, I was drenched and attempting, in vain, to keep the camera dry.

Capturing the ocean in these moments of explosive power and release allows me to be taken back there, onto that beach, I can almost feel the sting of the driving rain on my face and how drenched my clothes were by the time I got back to the shelter of the car.
